Bridge bent over I-77 Express Lanes | Charlotte, NC

A bridge bent over a highway, roughly 60 feet up, was covered in graffiti. No one could safely get out onto the bent to deal with it: no tie-off point, a real fall hazard, and the traditional approach would have meant renting extra equipment just to get someone into the air.

A drone painted over the graffiti instead. The whole job, setup included, took about an hour, with the actual painting done in around 40 minutes. The crew didn't need to close live travel lanes, and the road reopened within another hour of finishing. The same job by traditional methods could have run two nights.

"I've been doing this for 33 years now. I can't wrap my head around a better way to do this. Hands down, in my opinion, it beats the traditional methods in every category in this situation. The safety alone makes it valuable enough to move forward. The cost savings is obviously there as well, but just the safety of not having my guys be out on a bridge bent, or under one, next to live traffic, is worth every penny."
