5 Steps to Build Upon Your Own Pressure Washing Business with a Drone
Learn how to build your pressure washing business with a drone in 5 easy steps. Increase efficiency and expand your services with this innovative approach.
Why You Should Build Upon Your Pressure Washing Business with a Drone
Are you looking to build a better pressure-washing business? Are you looking to make more money? Do you want to get bigger contracts without wasting money on renting big equipment? And are you tired of your staff being at risk while pressure washing tall building or hard-to-reach areas?
If you said yes to any of those questions, then it's time to start incorporating a drone into your pressure washing business.
A Lucid drone can easily reach areas that are harder to clean, reducing the need for ladders or scaffolding.
Additionally, a Lucid drone can complete cleaning tasks much faster than traditional methods, saving you time and money.
According to a report by Prescient & Strategic Intelligence, the power washing market is expected to grow at a CAGR of 4.4% from 2021 to 2030, indicating a lucrative opportunity for anyone wanting to stand out from the current market.
We've got five easy steps to expand your own pressure washing company with a drone, including the equipment needed, training, and other elements to consider.
Don't let your competitors get ahead of you. Embrace the power of Lucid Bots to take your power washing business to new heights!
5 Steps to Building Upon Your Pressure Washing Business with a Drone
Now that you're considering expanding upon your pressure washing business with a drone, let's dive into the five easy ways to get your business up and running.
1. Understand your potential market and the pressure washing industry.
Building up a successful pressure cleaning and exterior washing business requires more than just adding a drone icon to your commercial property logo (although, like flames on a hot rod, it will look cooler). You need to understand your potential market and not only the pressure-washing industry, but also the exterior cleaning industry.
In a similar way to how you conducted market research to uncover valuable insights into the demand for pressure washing services, you can identify new customers by assessing your competition within the exterior cleaning services industry and determine viable profit margins.
Currently, the cleaning industry is valued at over $10 billion, and a Lucid drone can reach up to 110 ft per FAA regulation (about 10 stories). How can you capitalize on those two stats?
If you look at any skyline, I'm sure you think, "Man, all those buildings are bigger than that!" But here's the thing, 90% of commercial buildings are less than 3 stories tall, and just 0.23% of commercial buildings are taller than 10 stories.
Your local market is prime real estate to grow your exterior cleaning business with a Lucid drone. Movie theaters, hotels, office buildings, college campuses, and more are all ripe for the taking. And that doesn't even touch on residential properties.
Get ready to take your pressure washer business to new heights!
2. Get the equipment you need.
Having high-quality equipment can make all the difference in delivering efficient and effective cleaning services to your clients. One of the most critical pieces of equipment for a successful pressure washing business is a Lucid drone, which can help you reach and clean hard-to-reach surfaces with ease.
Despite the fact that the Lucid Bots cleaning drone itself is not a power washer, you can incorporate its soft wash capabilities into your business plan and marketing strategy. It has a high-pressure multi-directional nozzle, intelligent batteries and self-repair options, which makes it perfect as a surface cleaner--whether roofs, windows, or the exterior of any building. The drone is like a conduit that water flows through; water pressure and flow rate are controlled on the pump side, ensuring efficient cleaning every time.
Additionally, the Lucid Bots cleaning drone is designed with safety in mind. It's equipped with a collision avoidance system, which helps prevent accidents and collisions, and its modular design allows for quick and easy maintenance, reducing downtime and increasing productivity.
And if all that isn't enough, the Lucid Bots cleaning drone is chemically agnostic, meaning it can spray your choice of chemical for the exterior cleaning contracts of any type of business. It also plugs into any soft wash rig system you already have in place, or if you need one, we have ones ready for purchase.
3. Learn how to fly a drone.
Imagine this. You're on a job site, and a clear blue sky stretches out above you. You see your competition across the street scrambling around, trying to get ladders up and move lifts.
But not you. You calmly take out your Sherpa drone, hook the hoses up to your pump, and within seconds, it's soaring through the sky, spraying and cleaning.
That's right. Flying our drone is that easy and requires little technical know how. Our team at Lucid Bots has designed a drone that is not only simple to operate, but also a joy to fly.
Flying a drone can be intimidating, especially for those who are new to the field. But with our Lucid drone, we believe in "Easy to Fly, Easy To Buy". We've created an intuitive interface that allows you to control the drone with ease. You'll be amazed at how quickly you'll pick up the skills to fly like a pro!
Our drone is so easy to fly that your grandma could do it. Don't believe us? Check out our video of our CEO's grandma taking our drone for a spin. It's proof that anyone can fly our drone with ease!
You only need two things to fly a Lucid drone:

4. Partnerships.
Look for local partnerships.
At Lucid, we believe in the "Crawl, Walk, Run" approach to starting your drone soft washing business.
As a business owner, I'm willing to bet you know someone at your local club/organization, favorite place to grab lunch, local school, or some other business that, like you, is a decision-maker.
These contacts are now your ultimate network for taking your new drone exterior cleaning business to the next level.
If you can partner with real estate agencies, property managers, or homeowners' associations to offer your drone washing services, then you can capitalize on your local market, beyond your pressure washing services.
By partnering with these local contacts, you can get practice with your Lucid drone, get photos and videos in action, and the drone draws a crowd, so every time it goes up is an opportunity to get attention, more business, and referrals.
Additionally, you can look for local events or festivals where you can set up a booth or offer your services. This can help you reach a large audience of potential clients and entrepreneurs to establish your business as a trusted and reliable service provider in the community.
5. Market your business.
As a professional exterior cleaner, you know that standing out from the competition is the key to success. And with the Lucid Bots cleaning drone, you can do just that. This state-of-the-art piece of equipment is not only the coolest new tool in your area, but it's also a game-changer for your business.
Gone are the days when your work looks like everyone else's.
The Lucid Bots cleaning drone will not only set your business apart from everyone else because it's awesome, but the speed, efficiency, and effectiveness that your business will bring to your clients will be well above your competitors.
Not only that, but your exterior soft washing business will have the ability to give consistent, long-lasting results every time. Your customers will also know that you're dependable--while the other guys are waiting for lifts to be delivered, scaffolding to be set up, or waiting for all of their team to show up, you and your team are on site and set up in minutes getting work done in hours and not days, like your competitors.
And finally, you can market your business as the safest option because that's what the drone does: keeps your exterior cleaning employees safe and off ladders and lifts. No customer will ever have to worry about your team getting injured on their property again.
You can build awareness of your new business expansion marketing plan by promoting not only your pressure washing services, but your new soft wash exterior cleaning capabilities with a drone. This can be done through various channels, including social media, online directories, flyers, and word of mouth. People are generally drawn to drone videos, so the whole community will know of your expanded services in no time.

How to Open an Exterior Cleaning Business with a Drone
Learn how to start an exterior cleaning business with the help of drones. Turn your passion into a profitable venture with Lucid Drone Tech.
Is it profitable to open an exterior cleaning service business?
Did you know that the global market for drone services is expected to reach $63.6 billion by 2025?
If you aren't already a business owner in the exterior cleaning service industry, it's time to consider becoming one.
As more people prioritize the appearance and maintenance of their homes and businesses, the need for professional cleaning services continues to grow.
Using a spraying drone like the Lucid Bots cleaning drone can make your business even more profitable by allowing you to complete jobs more quickly and efficiently. Additionally, using a drone can help reduce liability costs, as drones are significantly safer.
In this article, we will review the benefits of using a drone for exterior cleaning and how you can leverage this business opportunity to make your cleaning company more profitable.
Why Drones are Superior to Traditional Cleaning Equipment
Drones have become increasingly popular in the cleaning industry due to their efficiency and safety compared to traditional cleaning equipment. Be it for commercial purposes or even humanitarian causes like reducing pollution, drones offer significant benefits.
One major advantage of drones is their ability to cover a larger area in a shorter amount of time. With traditional cleaning equipment, such as pressure washers, workers may need to climb ladders or use lifts to reach high places, which can be time-consuming and dangerous. Drones, on the other hand, are a DIY-style solution that can easily reach and clean hard-to-reach areas without putting workers at risk.
Drones can also provide a higher quality of cleaning. Our drones can easily perform touchups that you can see on the drone's board camera, safely from the ground. This means that you can achieve a more thorough and consistent clean with less waste of time and materials, unlike traditional cleaning methods.
As expected, many consumers and homeowners prefer cleaning methods that preserve their landscaping and avoid damaging their property. Lifts, ladders, and pressure washers are more likely to cause damage to the property, creating a greater liability for cleaning companies. Alternatively, by using a spraying drone, you can avoid these liabilities and keep your customers happy.
Finally, investing in the right equipment, like the Lucid Bots cleaning drone, can help you stay competitive and differentiate your business from other pressure washing service providers in the market. With its advanced features and cutting-edge technology, the Lucid cleaning drone can help your exterior cleaner services exceed your customers' expectations.
Types of Exterior Cleaning Services
Now that we've discussed the profitability and benefits of using a spraying drone for exterior cleaning, let's take a closer look at the different types of exterior cleaning services you can offer.
Depending on the needs of your clients, you may want to specialize in certain areas or offer a range of services to meet various cleaning needs--from house washing to window cleaning services and commercial cleaning. Let's explore the different types of exterior cleaning services you can provide to grow your business.
Residential Soft Washing
Residential soft washing involves using low-pressure water and specialized cleaning solutions to remove dirt, grime, and stains from siding, roofs, and other exterior surfaces. This type of washing is focused on residential properties (i.e. homes).
Residential soft washing can encompass a variety of cleaning services for different exterior surfaces around the home. Here are some examples:
- Roof cleaning to help remove moss, algae, and other organic material that can cause deterioration over time.
- Siding cleaning to clean different types of siding materials, including vinyl, wood, and stucco. It can remove dirt, mildew, and other stains that can detract from the appearance of a home.
- Window cleaning, particularly those that are difficult to reach or are located on higher floors. It can remove dirt and grime from the glass and window frames.
The above three services can be done safely and efficiently with the Lucid Bots cleaning drone. Furthermore, because the drone will save your company time and resources, you can consider offering the below three services for completion in a fraction of the time as your competition:
- Deck and patio cleaning that remove dirt, mold, and mildew that can make these walkways slippery and dangerous.
- Fence cleaning to remove dirt and stains that can make them look dingy and old.
- Driveway cleaning and other concrete or paved surfaces around the home, removing oil stains, dirt, and grime that can accumulate over time.
If you're considering offering exterior cleaning services with a Lucid drone, you will be using soft washing, which is a gentle and effective method of cleaning surfaces without causing damage.
With a spraying drone like the Lucid cleaning drone, you can easily apply the cleaning solution to the targeted area with precision, avoiding unnecessary damage to the property.
Commercial Soft Washing
Commercial soft washing is a gentle yet effective way to clean the exterior surfaces of commercial buildings such as offices, warehouses, and storefronts. This method also uses low-pressure water and specialized cleaning solutions to remove dirt, grime, and stains without damage to surfaces.
Commercial soft washing is similar to residential soft washing, but there are some key differences in the areas it covers. Here are some examples of what it encompasses:
- Building washing to clean the exterior of all types of commercial buildings, including offices, retail stores, warehouses, and more. This includes the walls, windows, and high roofs of the building.
- Parking lot cleaning to clean the surfaces of parking lots, removing oil stains, tire marks, and other debris.
- Graffiti removal to remove graffiti from exterior walls without causing damage to the underlying surface.
- Industrial cleaning such as those of factories, plants and warehouses.
Other examples of commercial cleaning include those servicing hotels, shopping centers, stadiums, schools, hospitals or even government buildings.
When running your own business property, your physical storefront leaves a lasting impression on customers and it's important to consider its curb appeal. Not only does exterior cleaning with drones brighten up commercial properties, it's also much more cost-friendly and safer.
Using a drone like the Lucid cleaning drone reduces the need for ladders or lifts to be propped around the office area, which increases safety of both the cleaning personnel and regular staff coming into the office. It also reduces the risk of accidents.
Commercial properties also have higher roofs and more difficult-to-reach areas compared to residential properties.
By offering commercial soft washing with a Lucid drone, you can provide your clients with high-quality cleaning services that are safe, effective, and eco-friendly.

This means it can have a significant impact on the future of your window cleaning company — that is, if you’re ready to embrace the future.
Drone usage in commercial window cleaning is on the rise, with more companies embracing technology as a safer and more efficient alternative to traditional methods.
If you want to learn more about why window cleaners (and others) are beginning to embrace drones as a safer, and more profitable, method, check out this free webinar.
In this article, we will review the advantages of using drones for your regular window cleaning needs, as well as the future prospects of this technology in the industry.
Benefits of Window Cleaning Services Using a Drone
Now that we've discussed how drone usage is on the rise in the commercial window washing and cleaning industry, let's take a closer look at some of the specific benefits of using drones for this task.
Drones have a greater return on investment.
Using drones for your professional window cleaning service will also provide a greater return on investment. While the initial investment in purchasing and operating a drone may seem costly, the long-term benefits can outweigh the costs.
Moreover, using drones for window cleaning can provide a competitive advantage for companies in the window cleaning industry. With the growing demand for safer and more efficient cleaning solutions, the use of drones can help companies stand out from their competitors and attract more customers.
Drones can even provide additional revenue streams for cleaning companies. With one drone, professional window cleaners can clean a building faster, but with multiple drones in your toolkit, your company can cover multiple jobs at the same time in significantly less time.
For example, say you charged $5,000 to clean a building that would normally take 5 days to complete with traditional cleaning methods. Using the Lucid Bots cleaning drone, your team could complete the job in a day, freeing up your week to manage more jobs.
If you had two or more drones, you can either speed up larger jobs, or take on multiple jobs in a single day with an average-sized team of less than 10 people.
Overall, the greater efficiency and versatility that using drones provides can lend a significant return on investment for cleaning companies that are willing to be in it for the long haul.
Drones are safer than traditional window cleaning.
Traditional window cleaning methods often require workers to use ladders, scaffolding, or other intimidating equipment to reach windows in high areas. This can be dangerous to both the staff working at such heights and to the pedestrians on the ground level who may not pay much heed to the situation.
Falls are a major risk for workers in this field. In fact, according to studies by the U.S. Bureau of Labor, in 2020, this event exposed workers and contributed to 32% of the total injuries and illnesses faced by those in the industry that year.
Drones offer a safer alternative, as they eliminate the need for workers to perform these dangerous tasks. With drones, workers can control the cleaning process from a safe distance, reducing the risk of accidents and injuries. Moreover, drones can provide access to hard-to-reach areas without putting workers in harm's way.
Using drones for window cleaning can not only improve worker safety but also reduce liability for cleaning companies. Accidents and injuries on the job can be costly, leading to potential legal fees and compensation payments.
The Lucid Bots cleaning drone has a collision prevention system that allows it to detect and avoid obstacles in its path. Our drones’ fail safes allow the drone to land safely 100% of the time, further reducing the risk of accidents. Furthermore, our drones also take less setup space than lifts and scaffolding systems for easy management by your team and everyone’s benefit.
Drones can access hard-to-reach places.
One of the main benefits of using drones for window cleaning is their ability to access hard-to-reach places. Traditional methods of window washing services often require workers to use ladders, scaffolding, or other equipment to reach dirty windows in high or difficult-to-access areas. This can be time-consuming and dangerous, as falls are a major risk for workers in this field.
Drones, on the other hand, are able to fly to heights of up to 110 feet (based on FAA guidelines), providing a safe and efficient alternative for high-rise window cleaning. In fact, the Lucid Bots cleaning drone was designed specifically for this purpose. With urban flight capabilities and window payload attachment, this drone can clean all those tough spots your own window washer personnel may have missed.
Additionally, drones can access tight spaces or areas in exterior window cleaning that are difficult to reach with traditional equipment. This can include corners, curved or angled glass, and window screens with irregular shapes.
With drones, cleaning crews can now clean all areas of a building's exterior, not just the easy spots.
Drones are significantly faster than traditional window cleaning equipment.
Another major benefit of using drones for cleaning commercial buildings is their speed. Drones are significantly faster than traditional window cleaning equipment and can clean dirt and grime on a larger surface area in a shorter amount of time.
For example, the Lucid Bots cleaning drone is built with a multi-directional spray nozzle, making it easier to clean the target areas faster. This is because the drone can cover a larger surface area in a shorter amount of time, without the need for manual labor or equipment setup.
Plus, some drones offer high-resolution cameras and precise control systems which can detect and target specific areas that require cleaning, such as hard-to-reach sills or areas with stubborn stains.
Plan for the Future with the Lucid CLEANING Drone
The future of commercial window cleaning is here and it comes in the form of drones. No matter the years of experience you have in the field, if you don’t embrace this innovative technology, you may lose out. Cleaning companies can significantly improve their efficiency, safety, and bottom line through the use of drones.
Among the top-performing drones on the market today is the Lucid Bots cleaning drone, which offers unparalleled cleaning capabilities, thanks to its high-precision navigation, accurate control systems, and advanced safety features.
By incorporating the Lucid Bots cleaning drone into their services, window cleaning service businesses can plan for the future and stay leagues ahead of the competition.

Soft Washing vs Pressure (Power) Washing: Benefits & More
Discover the benefits and importance of soft washing for your property. Unlock the power of gentle, effective cleaning with Lucid Drone Tech.
Soft washing is the perfect solution for those hard-to-clean surfaces such as windows, roof shingles, and screens. But what exactly is soft-washing, and what are the benefits?
Soft washing is a cleaning method that uses a low-pressure washing technique and a mixture of algaecides, bleach, surfactants, and water to safely clean exterior surfaces of organic stains, mildew, and algae. This type of washing is ideal for delicate surfaces, like shingles and stucco, that can get damaged from traditional pressure washing.
What is the difference between Soft Washing and Power Washing/Pressure Washing??
Power washing or pressure washing is a method of cleaning that uses high-pressure water to remove dirt, grime, and other buildups from surfaces. This type of cleaning is ideal for tougher stains and thicker buildups. Pressure washing can damage delicate surfaces, so it's important to use the right equipment and techniques.
Although soft washing, power washing, and pressure washing seem similar, they are pretty different. Soft washing uses a low-pressure washing technique to clean exterior surfaces, while power washing or pressure washing uses high-pressure water to clean surfaces.
When should you use Soft Washing method?
While soft washing is best used on notoriously hard surfaces or would be damaged by high-pressure cleaning such as windows, roof shingle siding, etc., its original purpose was to remove algae from roofs.
What are the benefits of soft washing?
There are many benefits of soft washing, including:
- Delicate surfaces are not damaged
- Effective for removing organic stains, mildew, and algae
- Safe for the environment
- Doesn't require harsh chemicals or detergents
How do you Soft Wash??
There are a few different ways to soft wash, but the most common method is to use a low-pressure washer with algaecides, bleach, surfactants, and water. You can also use a soft brush to help loosen any buildup on the surface.
Why soft wash with a Lucid cleaning drone?
Although not as common as using a low-pressure washer, soft washing with a drone is becoming more popular due to being more efficient, safer, and more profitable. A Lucid Bots cleaning drone can be used to get into tight spaces and hard-to-reach places that a low-pressure washer can't reach.
Using a Lucid drone will eliminate 95% of the safety risks associated with the exterior cleaning industry. It can also save time by reducing setup time and speeding up the cleaning process because a Lucid drone can cover 100 square feet in about 1 minute.
What chemicals do you need to Soft-Wash?
You will need to mix a solution to apply to your surface area, which consists of 12% bleach and 88% water solution as an industry standard.
Bleach kills any mold and mildew spores, algae, moss, or other plants or fungi growing on your roof. Using bleach also gets into and kills off any root systems to prevent further damage to the tiles and keep anything from growing back.
Water dilutes the bleach to prevent over saturating the surface.
Conclusion
Many people believe pressure washing is the only way to exterior clean. But in reality, it is not the magic fix-all and can lead to more problems than solutions. For more information on soft-washing or using a Lucid drone as a soft wash tool, the Sherpa soft wash drone is designed for exactly this. Book a demo or call us at 980.498.1894.

Summer is in swing, and it's coming in hot with humidity and high temperatures. Summer might be great, but it can be damaging to structures. Discoloration, dust, grime, and organic stains like mold and mildew are just a few things to keep an eye out for. It's a great time to soft wash, just don't get too close. These organic stains can have long-term effects on your health.
Luckily, drones can be used for safely soft washing surfaces from a distance. Soft washing is the process of using low pressure water to clean exterior surfaces. The best part? Soft washing actually eradicates the damaging organic stains by cleaning the source. This means that you can avoid damaging structures with high pressures and you can ensure that any organic stains, like mold and mildew, are taken care of on the spot.
Plus, with a drone, you can clean areas that are difficult or dangerous to reach, like roofs and tall buildings. Drone technology makes it possible to safely and efficiently clean these areas without having to climb up or get too close. So if you're looking for a safe and effective way to soft wash, consider using a Lucid Bots cleaning drone!
